How To Make Rosewater

Rosewater is exactly what it sounds like: roses combined with water. It combines all of the benefits of water with the anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties of rose. It also smells fantastic.

Although rosewater is utilized in several cuisines, I prefer to use it in my beauty routine. This medicine is life or death for some people, but I’m not desperate enough to spend $10 on a small bottle. It’s especially appealing because it’s so simple to prepare at home.

Fortunately, I’m frugal, so I was able to create three bottles for the same cost. I adore a good deal, especially when the DIY version is ridiculously simple.

What are some of the advantages of rose water?

Skin pH is balanced, irritation is soothed, and redness is reduced (has anti-inflammatory characteristics!)
may help to minimize wrinkles and fine lines

Rosewater created at home:

  • Roses are grown organically (as many as you like-I used 7 stems)
  • Purified water (enough to cover the rose petals- I used about 1.5 litres)

For the Rosewater Face Toner, follow these steps:

  • 1 teaspoon rosewater (recipe above)
  • 4 tablespoons distilled water (or enough to fill your spray bottle)
  • 1 spray bottle (2.5 oz.)
  • 1 tbsp pure rosewater (recipe above)
  • about 4 tbsp of distilled water (or enough to fill your spray bottle)
  • 1 2.5 ounces spray bottle

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Rosewater created at home:
  • Remove the petals from the stems and rinse them in lukewarm water to remove any residue.
  • Pour enough distilled water to just cover the petals in a big pot (no more or your rosewater will be diluted).
  • Bring the water to a simmer over medium-low heat and cover.
  • Allow to simmer for 20-30 minutes, or until the petals have faded to a faint pink colour.
  • Separate the petals from the water by straining the mixture.
  • Remove the petals and keep the water in a glass container.

For the Rosewater Face Toner, follow these steps:

  • Shake all of the ingredients together in a spray bottle.
  • To use, spritz straight on the face or on a cotton pad and wipe away any residue.
