According to social media analysts, in 2026, Facebook will lose 100 million users. But it’s not just because people are getting tired of the blue and white website. In fact, the reason why so many people have deleted their accounts has nothing to do with how they feel about Zuckerberg et al., but rather how they feel about dating apps and websites that are connected to Facebook.
These sites have made it no longer fun or exciting to use a platform that forces you to put up a profile picture and include details of your education, job title, interests and favorite music artists… just so you can find someone to date!
Fortunately, deleting your account isn’t the only option – there are plenty of other ways you can take control of your digital identity. And one way is by using Facebook for dating instead of risking your privacy on other apps or websites.
In this blog post, we will explore everything you need to know about the world of Facebook dating from how it works to which are the best sites for meeting singles.
What is Facebook Dating?
Facebook dating is a relatively new concept that is sweeping the internet, and it’s not hard to see why. The idea is simple: you create a profile just like on any other dating site, but instead of relying on the app for matches, you find potential dates via Facebook friends or mutual friends.
And while some people might be nervous about putting their personal information on Facebook, many users are finding that this way they’re able to keep their digital identity private while still having access to date prospects.
For example, if you have been suffering from chronic loneliness and want to meet someone special in your area, the only way to do so might be by sending out messages to strangers on apps like Tinder.
But with Facebook dating sites, your personal information stays private while giving you access to a much larger pool of potential mates who are connected through your social media network.
How Does Facebook Dating Work?
Facebook dating has been around since 2017 and it’s the perfect way to find someone to share your life with. The best thing about Facebook Dating is that you don’t have to reveal any personal information other than your age, location, and a few photos. What’s more, Facebook Dating is completely free because there are no sign-up fees or monthly subscriptions.
Facebook Dating is easy to use. Once you log in, you will be shown a list of people who are looking for romance within a certain distance from your location. You can also set up your own profile by uploading pictures of yourself and adding some details about what you’re looking for in a partner.
You can also use Facebook Dating as a platform for meeting new people without revealing too much personal information upfront. For example, if you’re married or in another relationship but want to meet new people online, all of your personal information stays hidden while you chat with others on the app.
If you make plans to meet them offline, then only then do they see the private information that only you want them to know about before meeting up in person.
Who Can Use Facebook Dating App?
Facebook dating is a site that connects with your Facebook account in order to find matches. It’s a free app that can be used by anyone on the internet, no matter what gender they identify as or where they live.

How To Find Love On Facebook Dating App
Facebook is the largest social media platform in the world, so it makes sense that it would have a dating app. But before you start swiping on Tinder or signing up for another dating site, here’s how to get started on Facebook.
If you’ve never set up a profile before, head over to the ‘Apps’ tab and click on ‘Dating’. If you already have a Facebook account, just sign into your account and tap on Start Now.
From there, you will be prompted to set up a profile just like any other social media account with your gender, age range, location and interests.

Once your profile has been set up – if it was done correctly – you should see a list of people who are nearby and looking for love! The app will also tell you which ones are single or in an open relationship – saving time and energy from swiping right on those who are unavailable.
How To Set Up Your Facebook Dating Profile
Despite the fact that your Facebook Dating profile is separate from your other profile, the Dating section uses some of the information from your other profile. Below are the steps are taken to get Facebook users all set up with their dating profile:
- Go to the Facebook app.
- Tap on the menu icon at the upper right side of the screen and click on “Dating”.
- Note that if you don’t see the Dating option, you’ll probably need to tap the “See More” option before you’ll be brought to Facebook’s dating section
- Click “Get Started” to create a profile, then follow the on-screen instructions. You’ll need to indicate your preferred gender, region, and a decent photo of yourself.
- Facebook will automatically create a dating profile for you by skimming your non-dating profile
- Click on the “Preview Profile” option to customize your profile to your liking by removing items, adding images, and adding Instagram posts
- Click “Done” when you’re finished.
Facebook Dating Pitfalls to Watch Out For
Just because Facebook has created an app which is meant to be used for dating doesn’t mean it’s the best option. There are a few pitfalls to watch out for when using this site, including:
- You may not have control over the pictures you post as, unlike other sites like Tinder, if someone requests to be your friend on Facebook they can see every picture you have ever posted and most of your profile information.
- The same goes for your friends who will see all the pictures you upload on Facebook. This means that if you are looking for a date, don’t make it so easy for people to know way too much about you!
- When looking at someone’s profile, there isn’t always information about their sexual orientation and preferences so it might not be easy to find someone of interest.
These pitfalls can lead to some embarrassing moments when trying to find love on Facebook – but with a little knowledge beforehand, you can avoid these issues entirely.
Which are the best Facebook Dating Apps?
There are many different Facebook Dating Apps to choose from. Before we get into which ones are the best, let’s talk a little bit about how Facebook Dating works. Normally on Facebook, you would look through your news feed and scroll past friends’ photos, posts, and updates.
With dating apps, you don’t have to do that – instead, there is a dating section where you can scroll through profiles of people who want to date or find love. When you see someone you like, you swipe right (for “Yes please!”) or left (for “No thanks!”).
This is awesome because it takes the pressure off of meeting new people since you know they are interested in dating too. You can also change your settings so that only people who have liked you will appear in the feed or search results. And if all else fails? There is always old school texting!
Tinder: A Brief History, and Why It’s Worth Looking at for FB Dating
Tinder was launched in 2012 as a way for people to find someone to meet up with in their area. It started out as a dating app that let you swipe left or right on potential matches, and eventually became a mainstream dating platform where more than 50 million people are swiping for love every day.

In early 2016, Tinder’s parent company Match Group (MTCH) filed an IPO, making it the third largest publicly-traded company in the world. Now that Tinder is worth billions of dollars and has an unprecedented reach, it’s worth considering if you should be using it for Facebook dating instead of risking your privacy on other apps or websites – especially since Facebook is soon going to lose its cool factor!
Bumble: The Feminist Choice for FB Daters
Bumble is a feminist dating app that allows only women to start conversations on their platform. This way, they hope to reduce the amount of harassment and abuse that people face on other dating sites. The app was launched in 2014 by Whitney Wolfe, who was previously the VP of Marketing at Tinder.
When she left Tinder after suing the company for sexual harassment and discrimination, she created Bumble as an alternative. She wanted to create a safe and welcoming space for women, where they could feel respected and empowered when they were using the app.
As such, users can only match with people if they’ve mutually liked each other, which means both parties have agreed to contact one another. Bumble also has some strict rules about what content is allowed on the app: nudity or sexually explicit images are not permitted; and anything containing hate speech or bullying will be removed from the site immediately.
Coffee Meets Bagel: For People Who Want to Be Discreet When FB Dating
Coffee Meets Bagel is one of the most popular dating apps in the world, and it’s no coincidence that it’s also the only FB-based dating app out there. It has a unique matching algorithm which assigns you a ‘bagel’ (a potential date) every day at noon. You can either choose to like their profile or pass on them for someone else.
If you find someone you want to get to know better, all you have to do is reach out, but if not – wait for tomorrow! Coffee Meets Bagel has more than 10 million active users per month, and over 25% of those are paid members.
There are always a variety of new people logging on each day and the app claims they have yet to see an age gap wider than 18 years old. This is great news for those who are looking for a serious relationship or just want to find someone to chat with – but don’t want their boss or parents finding out about it!
Coffee Meets Bagel was founded by three sisters: Arum, Dawoon, and Soo Kang. The idea came after they ran into a friend who had recently divorced and complained about how hard it was to meet new people without Facebook as an option. Not wanting their friend to feel alone again, they created Coffee Meets Bagel in 2012 and made sure that everything was centered around privacy AND fun.
Meet Up Apps Like Whisker and Tender
The best thing about Facebook dating is that you don’t need to upload any pictures of yourself. The only pictures you’ll have on your profile are the ones you choose to upload to your timeline – which is a lot less pressure than uploading a picture of yourself from 10 years ago and praying it doesn’t come back to haunt you!

You can also set up an album for your Facebook profile, where you can post comments about what’s going on in your life. You might even find that some of these albums are more popular with certain groups of people and they may be more inclined to contact you.
There are many apps like Whisker and Tender which will help you meet singles without the high pressure or awkwardness that often accompanies meeting someone new. All in all, it’s a win-win situation: no photos, tons of privacy, no ads, and no algorithms deciding who gets matched with who. Sounds pretty good right?
