Depending on how frequently you use it, clean your electric or stovetop kettle every one to three months. A tea kettle should be descaled and properly cleaned at least once a season if it is used every day. If you live somewhere with hard water, you should describe the inside of the kettle once a month.
If the water filter in your electric tea kettle has to be cleaned or replaced, do so according to the manufacturer’s instructions or at least once every other month.

Best Way To Clean A Tea Kettle
Disassemble the interior of the kettle
- Pour half of the water into the kettle and the other half should contain either lemon juice, cleaning vinegar, or distilled white vinegar.
- After bringing the mixture to a rolling boil, turn off the kettle.
- Before draining out the solution, let the kettle sit for at least 20 minutes (longer is good).
Clean Water Filter
- Take the kettle out of the plug.
- Take off the water filter if your model has one.
- In accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, clean or replace the filter.
- The majority of filters can be cleaned by soaking them in a mixture of one part distilled white vinegar to one part water. After that, use hot, soapy water to clean the filter.

- Use a sponge or soft-bristled brush to remove any remaining mineral buildup from the inside of the kettle to clean it.
- To aid with the dislodging of any minerals surrounding the spout, dip the brush or sponge into pure distilled vinegar.
Clean Kettle Exterior
- An electric tea kettle should never be submerged in water. The heating element will be harmed by this. Take these actions to clean the outside:
- Combine a small amount of dishwashing liquid with some warm water.
- Wipe the exterior with the sponge after dipping it in the soapy water.
- Should there be stubborn splatters, use the damp sponge to scrape the exterior and remove any stubborn smears by dipping them into some dry baking soda.
Buff Kettle
Wipe the exterior with a lint-free cloth to complete the cleaning. To achieve a streak-free sheen on the exterior of your stainless steel kettle, dab a tiny bit of olive oil onto a cloth and massage it over the kettle.
Rinse Kettle
After putting the kettle back together, add water to it. After bringing the water to a boil, drain it. This rinse cycle will eliminate any loose minerals and vinegar that may be left behind.
