The Asus Zenfone 7 is the Asus Zenfone 6’s replacement. It builds on the iconic flip camera mechanism while also adding more powerful smartphone electronics for better performance. As a result, you’ll receive the Snapdragon 865 processor, as well as a faster charging mechanism, better cameras, and more. The form factor and design haven’t changed all that much; we have a design/form factor that is fairly similar to that of its predecessor, the Zenfone 6.
Both the back and front panels have the same design. However, the capacitive fingerprint sensor on the Asus Zenfone 7 has been shifted from the back, as it was on the Zenefone 6, to the side. Still, because of the larger display, which grew from 6.4 to 6.67 inches on here, we get a larger chassis with the little design modifications.
On the Zenfone 7, Asus also ditched LCD panels in favour of an AMOLED display. This display also offers a 90Hz refresh rate, which outperforms its predecessor’s 60Hz refresh rate. Asus didn’t have to include a notch or a camera cutout because of the flip camera module, so we got a clean screen slab with minimum bezels up front.
In terms of the flip-out camera module, Asus has taken some attempts to improve the flip-out mechanism’s durability. In place of the 100,000 flips we got on the Zenfone 6, Asus claims they increased things to allow for 200,000 flips or 100 flips every day for five years.
On the build property, Asus kept the same lineup from last year. The Gorilla Glass 6 on the front, Gorilla Glass 3 on the back, and aluminium on the frame are all the same. The available colour variants, as last year, aren’t particularly plentiful. Aurora Black or Pastel White are the two options for enthusiasts.
The Cameras
Asus took things a step further this year, switching from a dual-camera arrangement on the Asus Zenfone 6 to a triple-camera setup on the Zenfone 7. As a result, the triple camera configuration provides more pixels as well as additional features that appeal to smartphone photographers.
A 64MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP telephoto camera with an f/2.4 aperture, and a 12MO ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture make up the combination.
This system can record videos at a maximum resolution of 8k at 30 frames per second. 4K@30/60/120fps, 1080p@30/60/240fps, and 720p@480fps are some of the other video recording options. This camera module may be used as both a rear and front-facing camera thanks to the swivel motion / flip-out mechanism.
