Have trouble logging into your Facebook account? It’s possible you need to unlock your account first. If you can’t remember the email or password that you used to set up your profile, then you’ll need to restore it. Here are some steps to help get your account back up and running.
How to Unlock a Facebook Account
It can be frustrating to find that you can’t log into your account. Before you start resetting your password, there’s a good chance the email address or password you’re using is wrong. To make sure, go to facebook.com/help/contact.
If someone has created an account with your email address or if Facebook thinks it’s an accounting error, then you’ll need to unlock it first before other steps will work.
To unlock your account, click on the ‘Forgot Your Password’ link on the sign-in page and enter the email address you used when signing up for Facebook. You should receive an email within a few minutes with instructions on how to unlock your account.
If that doesn’t work, try logging in via mobile device or third party application (e.g., Google Chrome) using the same information as before. If all else fails, you can use one of these steps to regain access to your account:
1) Submit a request for help from Facebook by clicking on the Help Center Link at the top of the page →
2) Resetting Your Account by clicking here →
3) Recovering Your Account by clicking here
Restore Your Account with a Backup Email

If you’ve created a backup email with your Facebook account before, then you can use this to restore your account. This will allow you to regain access by using the password you created when setting up your backup email.
To start, go to the “Help Center” on the top of any Facebook page and select “Log In or Sign Up.” From there, click on the “Forgot Your Password?” button and follow the instructions from there. If for some reason you don’t have a backup email set up, then follow these steps:

Know the difference between an account lock and a login problem
Account locks can be caused when you’ve been inactive for a while, have gone through a suspicious login attempt, or when exceed the number of incorrect login attempts. When this happens, your account is locked until the lock expires.
Login problems are when you know your password and email address but can’t log into your account because of a different reason. The most common reason for a login problem is forgetting your Facebook password.
Reset your password
If you’re having trouble logging into your account, you’ll need to reset your password.
To do this, go to the Forgot Password? page and enter your email address. Facebook will then send a link to the email account that was used to create the account, which will allow you to reset your password.
Get back into your account
If you’ve forgotten your email or password, it will be difficult to get back into your account. You’ll need to contact Facebook in order to restore the account.
Facebook requires two pieces of information in order to unlock an account: phone number associated with the account and a backup email address or phone number. The first step is going through the process of unlocking your account on Facebook.
First, click “Forgot Your Password?” on the log-in screen. Enter the phone number associated with your account along with a backup email address or phone number where you can be contacted.
Next, you’ll enter your new temporary password twice and then confirm it once. This will send a temporary email or text message with instructions on how to set up a new password for your account. After this, you’ll be able to change passwords and either use saved emails or find a new one so that you can log back into your Facebook account more easily in the future.
How to change your email address

2) Click on “personal info.”
3) Under “update your email,” click “change.”
4) Enter a new email address and click “save.”

What if I don’t have a Facebook account at all?
If you don’t have a Facebook account at all, you can create one from the app.
If you’re not sure if your Facebook account is locked, try logging out of the app and logging back in with your username and password. If this doesn’t work, your account may be locked.
