Facebook is not just a place where you post pictures and statuses. It’s also a platform for finding love, or at least the possibility of love. And it’s one of the most popular places to find a date these days.
According to statistics from Statista, as of June 2018, more than 271 million people use Facebook monthly in the United States alone.
That amounts to roughly 41 percent of all U.S. internet users. Not everyone on Facebook uses it as an online dating service – but many do. As of August 2017, there were over 200 million monthly active users on Facebook who identified themselves as single and interested in meeting new people romantically or otherwise.

This means if you’re single and looking for someone special, there are plenty of opportunities to find that person on Facebook without leaving the app you already have installed on your phone. Here are some tips for using Facebook dating to get the relationship you want:
Be Careful With Your Profile
The first thing to remember about setting up your Facebook dating profile is that you want to be careful about what you post. As with any other dating service or app, it’s important to be upfront and honest about your intentions from the get-go.
If you want to find a romantic partner and are looking for people based on relationship preferences like relationship status, relationship type and sexual orientation, be sure to select those options on your own dating profile.
You may also want to consider adjusting your privacy settings so that only people you’ve chosen to be able to see your profile can do so. This is especially important if you plan on using your Facebook dating profile to meet people in person.
Don’t Assume Everyone Is There to Date
Before you send out any messages to people on Facebook, remember that not everyone is there to date. Some people might just be looking for friends, advice or support.
In some cases, people might be using Facebook dating as a way to get back in touch with old friends or exes. If you’re not interested in pursuing a romantic relationship with someone, be kind and polite about declining any offers for dates.
In other cases, people might be posting ads for paid services. While many people are just trying to get the word out about their businesses, others might be trying to scam you. Don’t send money to anyone you meet through Facebook dating, and be cautious about giving out your personal information to anyone you don’t trust.
Use the Nearby Feature
One of the most widely used features on Facebook dating is the “Nearby” feature, which shows you people based on your location. This can be especially helpful for people who want to meet others in their neighborhood.
By default, this feature is turned on for all Facebook users. You can turn it off if you want to focus on finding people from other parts of the country or even other countries.
Communicate Clearly and Honestly
Before you meet up with someone you’ve connected with on Facebook dating, make sure to communicate clearly and honestly about your intentions. Be upfront about whether you’re looking for a long-term relationship or a short-term fling.
If you want to go on a date with someone you found on Facebook, invite that person out in person. Don’t message them with a date invitation. Instead, make plans to meet in person at a local café or restaurant.
Understand How Facebook Dating Works
Its bot true that Facebook dating works best when you use it as a supplement to other dating sites or apps rather than as your main dating platform. Facebook dating is a free dating platform that allows you to create a profile account and start connecting with people online.
Interestingly, if you’re looking for your next long-term relationship or something more casual, Facebook dating can be a helpful way to find people who are in the dating pool as well.
But keep in mind that the pool of people you can meet on Facebook is limited to the people you have something in common with. In most cases, its people that are in your match.
Some people are of the opinion that if you want to broaden your dating options, make sure to use Facebook dating in combination with other dating sites or apps where you can meet a wider variety of people.
Is Facebook dating free
Yes, Facebook dating is free, just like it is on other dating apps like Tinder and Bumble. There are no hidden fees or charges that you have to pay to use the site. Facebook just asks that you adhere to their Community Standards while using the app.
Is Facebook dating good

This includes more than three-quarters of people in the 25- to 34-year-old age range. It’s safe to say that more people than ever are using Facebook dating to find romantic partners.
Facebook dating app
A recent update to the Facebook Dating app allows users to change their dating preferences on the go. Users can set preferences based on things like relationship status, relationship type, and sexual orientation. Using the app is very similar to using Facebook Messenger. It’s available on both Android and iOS devices.
Hopefully, these tips have helped you understand how to use Facebook dating to find the relationship you want. Whether you’re looking for someone serious or casual, Facebook dating can connect you with people you’re likely to be interested in.
Best of all, you can use it without leaving the app you’re already using to keep in touch with family, friends and colleagues.
