Cleaning vinegar involves fermenting grain alcohol that has been distilled. Alcohol is converted by microorganisms into vinegar, acetic acid, and water.
About 6% of cleaning vinegar is acetic acid. The acid in coffee makers is what dissolves mineral deposits and cuts through oil, grease, and soap scum. Because of possible contaminants and the high acidity of cleaning vinegar, most manufacturers advise against using it.

Distilled White Vinegar vs. Cleaning Vinegar
The acidity and refinement that make distilled white vinegar fit for human consumption are the sole distinctions between it and cleaning vinegar.
On the other hand, cleaning vinegar has about 6% acetic acid, and distilled white vinegar, which you find in the condiment aisle, has about 5% acetic acid and 95% water. Although it might not seem like much, cleaning vinegar works better for cleaning tasks since it is significantly stronger than white distilled vinegar.

- Washable clothes can be free of unpleasant smells like urine, sweat, mildew, and cooking smells by using cleaning vinegar. If you are doing a little laundry load, you can alter the amount or add 1/2 cup to the last rinse cycle.
- Spot-white 100% cotton products, such as dishrags and threadbare socks. Cleaning vinegar’s acid helps brighten clothes and loosen embedded dirt.
- One gallon of water should be brought to a boil in a big pot before being turned off. Incorporate the white socks, underwear, or towels along with two tablespoons of strong laundry detergent and a half-cup of cleaning vinegar. After letting the things soak all night, give them a thorough rinse.
How to Use Cleaning Vinegar for Cleaning
- Combine one part cleaning vinegar, one part dishwashing liquid, and two parts water in a spray bottle to get rid of soap scum from ceramic tile, clean porcelain surfaces (such as tubs and toilets), and filth off painted furniture. Before the solution starts to cut through the filth, spray it onto the unclean surfaces and let it sit for five minutes. Use a microfiber cloth to gently remove it or scrub it with a brush with nylon bristles.
- Pour at least one quart of boiling water down the drain to clear clogged drains. One cup boiling water, one cup baking soda, and one cup cleaning vinegar should all be combined in a medium-sized bowl. After pouring the vinegar mixture down the drain, give it at least ten minutes to work. Finally, use one more quart of hot water to completely clear the drain.
