How to soothe arching feet at home
Stretching your feet
Muscles that are stressed may contract or spasm. Stretch your feet to relieve the tension. 4 After a warm soak when your muscles are relaxed, it’s an excellent time to stretch.
Place yourself in a comfortable position. Roll your ankles and toes in circular gently. To stretch tight spots on your feet and ankles, use your hands or an exercise band.
Try a runner’s stretch to include your calf muscles. Place yourself a few feet away from a wall or a counter. Place your hands against the wall as you lean forward. A good stretch should be felt along the back sides of your legs.
To get the optimum effects, hold each stretch for 10 to 20 seconds.
Massaging
Apply oil or lotion to your feet’s soles. Then massage them, carefully pressing in any uncomfortable spots. Concentrate on the plantar fascia, a cord-like band that runs from the ball of your foot to the heel of your foot.
Flex your toes upward to locate the plantar fascia. If you follow the underside of your big toe down through the arch, you should be able to feel it. It’s a good idea to keep your plantar fascia flexible. When your feet touch the ground, it serves as a shock absorber. In fact, if your heels hurt, it could be due to a tight or strained plantar fascia.
You might also use a foot roller or a foot spa with massage capabilities.
Wear Arch Support
Arch supports for your shoes are available over-the-counter and may provide some assistance. Arch supports will help to reduce the amount of shock your feet receive with each stride. Full-length arch supports can help relieve pain in the heel and ball of the foot.
Visit a store that can adjust supports to your unique needs for a better fit. To discuss custom-made orthotics, you should consult a podiatrist, a healthcare specialist who specializes in foot disorders. These implants are designed to help people with specific foot issues like plantar fasciitis and flat feet.
A foot soak is one of the most effective ways to relieve painful muscles.
Use moist heat
For five to ten minutes, soak your arching feet in a warm water basin or a foot spa.
Epsom salts can be added to the water to make it even more calming. Epsom salts can be found at drugstores and big-box shops’ first aid or foot care sections.
In a gallon of warm water, add 1 to 2 tablespoons. Use cool water instead of warm water if your feet are swollen, heated, or fatigued. After that, elevate your feet for at least a half-hour.
