How Long Does Belly Piercing Take To Heal

Even though getting your navel pierced only takes a few minutes, the healing process might take anywhere from nine months to a year. If your piercing appears to be entirely healed after four to six weeks, don’t be deceived!

Your belly piercing, like any other new piercing, is an exposed wound that requires careful upkeep.

Out of all the body piercings, belly piercings take the longest to heal. This is due to the fact that your core is always moving, irritating your new piercing. A belly piercing’s healing duration varies from person to person, however, it can take up to a year to fully heal.

There are a few things you can do to aid the healing of your belly piercing and keep it from becoming infected:

Wash on a daily basis: Use a fragrance-free soap to clean your belly piercing on a daily basis.

Saline: Clean your piercing twice a day with saline solution.

Clothing should be loose and soft, as tight clothing can irritate your piercing.

Don’t pick: Any crust that forms is a sign of healing, so let it alone.

Avoid using creams, oils, or lotions on your belly button piercing.

Hands: Before touching or cleaning your belly piercing, wash your hands with soap.

Swimming: Do not swim until your piercing is totally healed, as pools might harbour bacteria that can cause infection.

When exercising, cover your belly piercing with a bandage or other waterproof dressing.

The After Inked Piercing Aftercare Spray is the best aftercare spray I’ve ever used. It’s not just vegan, but it’s also free of alcohol and additives. The solution is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin, and comes in a large mist-spraying bottle for convenient application. When used early in the healing process, the spray aids in the reduction of healing times and the elimination of any remaining discomfort or soreness.

What Should You Do?

In a cup or basin of warm water, dissolve the salt.

Gently clean the opening of your belly piercing and around the jewellery with your cotton bud dipped in the mixture.

Don’t make the same mistake twice! Make sure you don’t dip the same end of the cotton bud you used to clean your piercing back into the saline solution; clean the rest of your piercing with a new cotton bud if necessary.

Dry your belly piercing with a paper towel rather than a cloth towel, as cloth towels can harbour bacteria that can lead to illness.
