- Then, click “Sign In” in the top right-hand corner of the screen. You may need to sign in with your Google Account if you haven’t already done so.
- Next, enter your email address, password and click on “Sign In”. When you’re finished signing in, you’ll be brought back to the “Set Up My Campaigns” page.
Set up your account
Once you have created a Google Adwords account, it’s time to set up your first campaign.
- Select “Campaigns” from the left side
- Select “Create Campaign” on the right side.
- This will bring you to a screen with many fields that need to be filled out. Make sure you fill out all of the fields in order for it to work properly.

- Fill out your keywords and make sure they are specific so that only relevant people will see them.
- Next is budgeting; this is how much money you want to spend on each day of this campaign, as well as the maximum amount of money you want to spend overall for this campaign. Remember that these numbers can always be changed later if need be.
Create a campaign
Now that you are signed in and have created an account, it’s time to get started. Creating a campaign is the first step to creating your advertisement. You will select your campaign type, budget and choose keywords that are relevant to your business.
A few things you need before setting up your campaign:
- Business name
- Budget for the campaign
- Location of the potential customers
- Keywords for the ad
- Your marketing objective (This can be anything from branding, lead generation, driving traffic or increasing conversion rates)
- Target audience (You can target people by age range, income level, location)
Once you have all of this information you will be able to set up your ad. Create a 1-3 sentence ad that targets your audience with specific keywords and copy. You will then choose which of Google’s platforms you would like this ad to show on; these include YouTube, Gmail, or Google Search just to name a few.

- Mobile App Ads
The Search Network is used for targeting keywords people use to find information about your business. The Display Network is for placing ads on sites where your target audience might be looking for information about your product or service.

Google Shopping allows you to show ads alongside related products on search engines. And finally, Mobile App Ads is a campaign type that’s specific to mobile devices and apps.
All four types of campaigns have their benefits, but they all need to be managed differently in order to reach your desired goal. Keep in mind that there are additional features within each type of campaign as well (e.g., location targeting).
You’ll want to explore these features as you learn more about how digital marketing can benefit your company.
