Since “properly” is the keyword here, it’s crucial to be aware of what to look for before to your consultation (more on that below). However, in general, “it’s doubtful that lip flushing would cause any long-term damage to your lips.
Lip blushing often doesn’t leave any scars, but the first week after it might leave your lips puffy, itchy, and covered in scabs. However, there are always hazards associated with cosmetic procedures, particularly if you have sensitive skin around your lips. As such, be careful to discuss any worries, allergies, and skin sensitivities with your artist before the session.
What drawbacks are there to lip blushing?
The major drawback of lip blushing is that it’s a semi-permanent technique, which means that if you don’t like the results, it may be challenging (and occasionally impossible) to remove the pigments from your skin.
The fact that the color won’t remain vibrant forever due to regular exfoliation means you might need to pay for a touch-up every year, which can be a drawback or a pro depending on how afraid of commitment you are.
Do lip injections work as well as lip blushing?
It’s merely a matter of preference whether lip injections or lip blushing is “better” or “worse.” Lip fillers will enhance volume and shape, while lip blushing will bring color and definition. They both have roughly the same amount of pain, last for approximately a year before needing touch-ups, and require about a week to heal.
Again, the decision really just comes down to the results you’re after, but you don’t have to make one: You can get both lip injections and lip blushing as long as you wait six weeks in between and begin with the filler.
Does lip flushing give lips a fuller appearance?
Yes, lip flushing can give the appearance of somewhat larger lips. Lip blushing won’t actually add any volume to your lips, but it can make them look more defined, especially around the Cupid’s bow, giving the impression that they are deeper and fuller.
To further enhance the volumizing look, you might ask your artist if they can apply a color gradient to the edges of your lips. But once more, use lip filler if you want real volume (or both).
