Since sunburn is a skin inflammation the simplest way to treat is using cold water. If you are at the beach or around any water body just dive into the water from time to time.
Baking soda and oatmeal
After exposing your skin to the sun and getting burnt add baking soda and oatmeal to your bathing tub when you get home as it is capable to reduce the damage of the sun on your skin.
Aloe vera
Aloe vera has been very beneficial for ages as it works on so many things one of which is sunburn. Aloe vera gives instant relief to sunburn but make sure it is 100% aloe vera without adding anything else to it.
Drinking enough water
Drinking enough water especially during summer should be a habit to you cause you tend to lose lots of it while under the sun.

Your skin tends to peel off after getting dry which is why you need a moisturizer to always lock in moisture in your skin.
Avoid tight clothing
When your skin is recuperating from sunburn you should avoid clothes that are tight that can stick to your skin.
